International Women’s Day of Prayer
Women of Madrid, Spain, Combine Creativity and Ministry
March 8, 2025 | Inter-European Division | Ramielys Mejía
To commemorate March 8, 2025, International Women’s Day, Women’s Ministries of the Madrid Alenza Adventist Church, designated as MAR (Mujeres Alenzanas en Red), developed the program: “Que nadie apagague tu fe” (Let no one extinguish your faith)—a special day full of praise, inspiration, and unity.
Sabbath Morning: “An intentional faith”
In the morning service, people were greeted at the door with a cordial welcome and friendly smile, each woman was given a beautiful card to remember the date. During the worship service, men and women were challenged to seek God in a direct and intentional way. They were not to be “one of the crowd,” as in the stories reflected in Mark 8, but to go with the intention of touching Jesus, like the woman who was suffering from bleeding. Let us take all our needs and in faith touch the hem of His garment, trusting that He will work according to our needs.
Lunch and Fellowship for Sponsors and Sponsored Children
Currently, MAR is developing a sponsorship for the baptized, to place a “godfather or godmother” with each new person who accepts Jesus, to call him/her, pray for him/her, be attentive, and guide him/her in this beautiful journey of new beginnings. After the worship service, both godparents and godchildren gathered to eat together, enjoy gifts, and to share hugs and testimonies of answered prayers.
Sabbath Afternoon: The Importance of Attachment
In the afternoon, MAR, together with the Singles department of the Church, organized a program with prayer and praise that urged participants to continue developing their faith. After this, the specialist Ana Tumac, addressed the topic of attachments and how they influence our relationships and all areas of our lives.
Sunday: Breakfast and Workshop With Crafts and Creativity
On Sunday the ladies of the church gathered for a delicious breakfast and a creative workshop. Embroidery, paper flower making, and crocheting were some of the projects. More than 40 ladies—girls, teenagers, and adults—enjoyed these activities with their embroidery needles in hand.
May God continue to bless these beautiful projects, which help to strengthen the bonds between sisters and friends and bring us closer to Him.
