Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7.

“Have you seen my keys? They're not on the hook.” My daughter and her husband, Dennis, didn't remember seeing the keys, so we began to search pockets and tables and look under cushions and behind the couch but—no keys. We drove ten miles back to the park where we had eaten our picnic lunch and searched the area. Still no keys. My biggest worry was for the church keys that were among the missing keys. I would them need in the morning. We searched again at the house without success before saying good night.

Too keyed up to sleep, I knelt down and prayed about the missing keys. Still kneeling with my eyes closed, I pictured us sitting in the living room, talking. While Becky checked on the baby, I saw Dennis pick up keys from the coffee table and drop them in her purse.

Although close to midnight, I knocked on their door and asked them to check Becky's purse. I hated to disturb them, but this couldn't wait until morning. Yes! The keys were there! Thinking they were Becky's, Dennis had put them in her purse but had forgotten the incident. Seeing the unintended humor, we had a good laugh and said good night again.

Thank you, Jesus! prayers sprang from my heart. Happy praises kept me awake while I thought about how God had shown me what had happened. In that moment of epiphany, I also saw that God really does care for me. I still hold that thought. It still comforts me. Knowing He cares so personally inspires greater faith in His love and the promises written in His Word.

Whether it's lost keys, time, money, health or opportunities, Jesus always takes interest in everything that concerns us. He invites: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Philippians 4:6).

But most of all, Jesus cares about our soul. “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). God knows us so well. He understands our every need, our haste and hesitations, our heartaches and joys as well as our limitations and weaknesses—and our tendency to stray from His side. Jesus asks each of us: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).

So here is a key thought to hold in your heart: Jesus cares for you!
